Inspiration literally means to inhale spirit. When you are inspired in business, obstacles melt, time flies and magic is afoot. Inspiration has the power to bring you what you want in life easily and gracefully. But how do you cultivate inspiration? How do you know if you’re inspired to have what you really want?
First, you need to know what you want. This isn’t about what you should want or what other people want for you or how others will benefit by your ‘havingness’. It IS about dreaming and envisioning your ideal future, regardless of where you are now, because you need the contrast. You need a target of desires to generate the firepower to reach them.
Second, no great work was ever accomplished without inspiration. Uninspired means watching the clock, looking for the pay-off and metering out your efforts. Being inspired means putting your best into even the smallest details, creative innovation as you go and handling challenges with resilience. Can you imagine if Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci or Oprah worked only 9 – 5 Monday – Friday? The greatest gamechangers are created through inspiration.
Third, to be inspired, you must be tuned into and aligned with your unique purpose through your business each and every day. When you are inspired, you will get insights seemingly from nowhere and discover resources in surprising ways. However, if you lose track of why you’re doing what you’re doing and your distinct role in contributing to the world around you, you will be working off of routine habit rather than inspiration. And it will be a lot harder to both achieve your goals and live in the pure joy of entrepreneuring.
Is living your inspiration easy? In a word, no – it’s not. The media focuses on the negative (the economy is bad, spending is down, unemployment is up), general culture is conditioned for you to have a regular job (with a paycheck, benefits and doing what is accepted as success) and even your closest friends will want you to play it safe because they love you. But when you are called through inspiration to be, do and share through your business, you endure beyond what you thought were your limitations and make a bigger difference.
Greatness has never been achieved by being mediocre and living between the proverbial lines. Changing the world around you doesn’t happen with a paint-by-numbers, watch-the-clock approach in business. Inspiration is the only force powerful enough to actualize desire from thin air.
So, dream a little and figure out what you want… follow inspiration in creating your business… change the world around you… and have what you really want every day.
Please let me know what inspires you by leaving a comment below… I’d like to know. :+)
